Billing Structure

Medicare & Concession cards must be presented upon arrival.

Grand Central Medical Centre is a mixed billing practice. Here at Grand Central Medical we believe that the doctors and staff offer excellent medical care at all times.


As with all businesses this practice has large running costs and therefore it is not possible to offer everyone full Bulk Billing for medical care. All billing is at the discretion of the doctor at the time of the appointment.

  • No Drugs of Addiction will be prescribed within the first 4 appointments.


Standard Consultation:  Item 23 = $77.20 [Refund $41.20] [Out of pocket $35.80]

Brief Consultation:    Item 3 = $33.85 [Refund $18.85] [Out of Pocket $14.90]


New Patients

Grand Central Medical is accepting New Patients.


  • New Patients : First Appointment Fee  (Long Appointment)  =  $115.70
  • All New Patients will need to see the Nurse to complete a Medical History prior to seeing the Doctor.   
  • New Patients requiring Medical/pre-employment assessments/referrals : Please note medical records will need to be received from your previous GP/Medical Centre before assessments/referral appointments can be made with a GP. Please speak to a Receptionist for further information.

All Private paid invoices are sent to Medicare online for refund to your bank account.

    Some procedures are Private Billed.

    * Aged & Disability Pensioners are Bulk Billed for Excisions & Biopsy procedures.

  •  ONLY AGED PENSIONERS/DVA patients and CHILDREN UNDER 16 are BULK BILLED.

Advanced Medical Procedures

Excisions/ Biopsy: are only Bulk Billed for patients on the Age/Disability Pension.

Please ensure that you have been given a quote of the estimated out of pocket cost for your procedure. Excisions ‘out of pocket’ is generally $100 however the full cost must be paid and the refund from Medicare deposited into your account.


Iron Infusion: Out of pocket cost for Iron Infusion is $125.00 with no refund from Medicare.


Commercial Driving Medical: $250.00 approx.   


New Patients

- No schedule 8 scripts are written at first appointment

Grand Central Medical Centre welcomes new patients. To become a new patient , please contact the Medical Centre to discuss becoming a new patient.


On the day of your appointment, please arrive 10mins before your time to complete a New Patient Form. We will also ask you to sign a Request for Medical Records to send to your previous Medical Centre. Grand Central has implemented this method to ensure that the Doctors at Grand Central have the most recent history and medication information to assist them in making the best medical decision for the new patient. We do not take ‘walk –in’ patients as the Doctors very rarely have spare appointments available. Book ahead of time to ensure an appointment time that works for you.

  • After Hours Medical Care

    If you require non-urgent medical care when the Medical Centre is closed please phone one of the following care providers

    • National Home Doctor Service on 13 74 25
    • 13 Health- to speak to a registered Nurse who will offer you advice. The phone number is: 13 43 25 84
    • Phone 46 16 6000 and ask for the Emergency Department. [This Emergency Department is located on Peachy Street in the Toowoomba Health Service building

    Staff answer calls from Mon - Fri (8am to 4.30pm )


    We are closed on Sunday and all Public holidays.


    All consultations are by appointment. We do not see patients from other practices without first receiving their patient history.

  • Home Visits

    The Doctors at Grand Central do make home visits to their patients that are home bound. The patient or family member can request a home visit from his/she regular Doctor. These home visits will need to be booked for early morning or after 4pm as Doctors are not able to visit during the day.

  • Nursing Home Patients

    Grand Central Medical Centre Doctors visit a number of Nursing Homes in Toowoomba. New patients are accepted from time to time.

  • Court Orders for children under the age of 16 years

    Grand Central Medical Centre will require a copy of any Court Orders in place relating to the ‘shared care’ of children under the age of 16years.


    Grand Central Medical Centre cannot be responsible for the collection of this material. It is the responsibility of the parent to provide documentation as soon as the information becomes available. 


    Appointments may be refused if the doctor become aware that there are court orders in place and he/ she does not have a copy of the document.

  • Repeat Scripts and Centrelink Forms

    In order to monitor your health and fulfil our ethical and legal responsibilities we require that you book an appointment with your Doctor if you require new or ongoing prescriptions or forms completed for Centrelink. 


    Special arrangements are available for those patients that are’ home bound’ in nursing home or independent living units.
